Where do pornstars come from?

Does anyone know where porn stars come from? Yes, that was supposed to sound funny, but I honestly have no idea. I’ve read about guys getting “discovered,” but they can’t all be found that way. I know that Dean Phoenix was approached at a bar by a recruiter, and that Chris Rockway was found on a straight porn site—he answered a Craigslist modeling ad that turned out to be adult films.

How do you account for the other billion or so that are out there? Whenever I watch one of those massive twink sites like BoyExtra.com, I always try to figure out how they got all those guys. First off, they’re incredibly young, so they can’t exactly scout the local bars. Do they put out “modeling” ads in sites like Craigslist, and if so, what do they say? It seems as if there would be lots of problems, and lots of dangerous situations involved—like an older brother finding out and showing up at the porn director’s house with two fists and one big gun.

No, I’m not starting a porn site, I’m just baffled as to how it all works. I can understand a headhunter walking into a gay bar in New York or Miami or Los Angeles or any other big city and talking up the bartenders—the worse that can happen is the guy is going to say no. But the rest baffles me. Now I have to look into this. If I figure it out, I’ll report back.
