First Impression

There's something rather audacious about pronouncing yourself as the best of something.  Even if all you're talking about is bareback porn.  If you say you're the best, you've got a lot to live up to.  Does Bestbareback.com live up to that?  They've got potential.  Before logging in, I'm impressed by their guest's homepage.  There's something very vibrant and fresh about the page and it surprises me that I like it.  To me, bareback is always best when it's a little seedy (no pun intended), so seeing light airy colors and a Noxema-esque site design is a refreshing change I didn't know I needed.  However, when I log in...all that disappears.  The colors turn a drab grey, with a little cornflower blue for a desperate attempt at color.  The update boxes are too formulaic, too "Website 101".

Navigation

This gray, white and light blue palette makes me feel dirty in a not fun way.  It makes me think of dirty bathwater, and that's definitely not what I want to think of when I'm watching bareback porn.  Even though bareback is best when it's a little dirty, it's in the perjorative sense, not the incredibly literal.  The site navigation is definitely nothing special, just a little bit of getting from point A to point B in the least complicated way possible, but in doing so it makes the website seem like the website for my doctor's office.  Find a way to punch this up a little bit; keep it functional but make it more exciting, more desirable to visit.

Content

The very first thing I need to comment on here is the scene descriptions.  You know how in Family Guy, they have those two foreign guys who have been living in in the US almost long enough to sound American?  And they say stuff like "Oh man, what a good bunch of partying at that disco-tech.  They played one of my audience requests!"  That's what some of the descriptions are like.  "He feeds him cock like the cutie wants and his anal entrance absolutely loves being taken like that."  What does that even mean?!  It's quite entertaining, actually, but I don't think it's entertaining in the way the site designers want it to be.

Anyway, there is a plethora of ways to view the content which is refreshing in ways the site design is not.  As usual, all the video content can be streamed online using Flash, but viewers can choose between Low, Normal, High or High Definition, so that viewers can work within their bandwidth restrictions.  If you're looking to download and watch on your own time, the videos can be downloaded for Windows Media Player either in "High" or "Ultra High", which kind of makes me giggle.  Like it's a beer.  Additionally, the videos can be downloaded in MP4 format, either for iPhones or iPods. Because when I watch porn, I want to watch it on a handheld smartphone.  But who am I to judge?  Photo content is not original; however it can be downloaded in a zip file, watched on a slideshow, shown as many pictures per page as one would like...the options for viewing all the content at this site are astounding.

Guys and Sex

If only the quality of the content matched how it could be viewed.  To be honest, the porn is a bit paint by number.  More often than not, the guys are pretty hot (there are some twinks that are a little to twinky for my liking, but that's my own personal minor quibble) so there's plenty of gorgeousness to look at, but...okay, it's like this.  Lauren Graham, who played Lorelai Gilmore on Gilmore Girls is gorgeous as hell, but she's also got a fantastic personality (um, from what I've read and seen, it's not like I know her personally or anything).  And that makes her so much more awesome.  On the contrary, Alexis Bledel, who played Rory Gilmore, is also gorgeous but has the personality of wet bread.  The porn at Best Bareback is occasionally like Alexis Bledel:  beautiful to look at a couple of times, but after awhile it just doesn't deliver.  But when it does, when the models connect and really get into it, it crackles.  Viewers should pay attention to the how the videos have been rated, star-wise.  Those viewers who have come before have found the best videos on the site and they were right.
