First Impression

So, here's the thing about 3D, right? I saw Avatar, just like everyone else, and it was really pretty awesome visually. And now it seems like everything on earth is getting put out in 3D technology. Pretty cool, I guess, but there's something totally unnecessary about most of it – at least in my opinion. Then again, if something really interesting was put out in 3D, well then I might change my mind. What about gay porn in 3D, you ask? Well shit, now that's interesting. And before James Cameron was bringing us blue guys and leaves that you felt like you could reach out and touch, DominicFord.com was bringing its members true high definition gay porn in 3D. Genius? Kind of, yes.

Before even logging in, you can tell that Dominic Ford really knows what he's doing. State of the art technology? Check. This site offers not only HD video in both 2D and 3D, but it's also iPad enabled! I'm attached to my iPhone like a limb, but its lack of Flash video capabilities can make porn on the go a little troublesome; Dominic Ford uses HTML 5 so that you can stream on your phone or iPad. You can view updates by date, or by popularity. You can also view updates by top rated model, and Dominic Ford has some of the names you love featured in many of its videos.  As you can expect from a website with this kind of technology, everything is laid out in a very modern style – it's kind of like an Ikea catalogue, if Ikea sold hot naked men.  Each video has its photo gallery attached to it, so there's no separate tabs for photos and movies; you shouldn’t have much trouble working your way around the site. Videos are each given a short description and are helpfully tagged by type of content – lean, twink, etc.

Dominic Ford has been online since 2009 and currently has more than 110 videos posted, each with an accompanying photo gallery.  Videos are roughly 20 minutes long, and each photo set comes with about 10 images to enjoy, which you can save individually or enjoy in a slideshow. But let's talk about these movies – I know that's what you're interested in. Each Dominic Ford video is posted both in 2D and 3D. When you join, they mail you out your 3D glasses, but the cool thing is that you can enjoy their porn in the meantime with the 2D postings. Each can be streamed using Flash or downloaded as an Apple-compatible file. The best, of course, is the true 1920x1080 high definition, but if your computer is slower, there are also medium (640x360) and large (960x540) viewing options to choose from.

I have to say, even though it's a little bit of a gimmick, the 3D porn is really cool. I don't know what I was expecting when I first logged on. Maybe juvenile tricks like dicks flying at your face or cumshots spraying out, but it's not like that at all. The 3D merely ads a depth to the film, giving it a very 'in the same room' kind of feel. And with the full-screen HD videos playing? You really do feel like you're right there, watching the action live.

The price is fair at $24.95/monthly and it's kind of nice to see that they didn't jack up the price in a ridiculous way – considering it's the only gay porn site I know of that offers 3D capabilities, they certainly could charge more.   There is no bonus content, though, or additional site access. Members do get access to a model directory and an online shop, where you can buy Dominic Ford exclusives like Whorrey Potter and the Scorcerer's Balls – yes, 3D glasses are included, but you have to bring you own, ahem, wand.

Overall Impression

Without its 3D technology, I would describe Dominic Ford as an above average site with hot-but-standard sex. However, you can really tell that the creators behind this one have gone to great lengths to produce something truly original, and the Dominic Ford experience really is cutting edge. For that reason, I'm pretty damn impressed.

Bottom Line

Dominic Ford is the only website out there offering 3D gay porn, raising it well above the competition in terms of originality.  If this is the future of the adult industry, Dominic Ford is setting the standard.
