First Impression

Before logging in to BarelyTwinks.com, I'm a little put off by the home page.  It looks like the home page to a candy store.  Kitted out in candy red and yellow, it doesn't really lend itself to be a paysite.  Not for porn, at least.  Also, there's a cartoon condom inside a red circle with a bar through it.  I gather this means that it's going to be bareback, but I don't know that they had to be so cutesy about it.  The home page breaks it down:  "Watch these sweet young fellows in action, they are willing and have no limits."  Of course there's a caveat:  actors on this site are couples in real life.  It's a nice little PSA about bareback sex and when it's appropriate, but I don't go to paysites to cry and share and learn and grow.  But anyway.

Navigation

Upon logging in, I am somewhat redirected to a network hub.  Barely Twinks is a member of the Male Unit Network and we'll get to that later.  What this means for the site is that all semblance of site design disappears and what's left is something more akin to YouTube or other random video sites.  This isn't bad per se, but it takes away from the ambiance of a site and as weird as that sounds, site design can really add to the hotness of the site.  At the same time, thank God the cartoon condoms have disappeared!  Navigation is fairly simple and familiar, considering it's comparison to YouTube.  IN addition to the easy navigation, videos can be sorted into many different categories and subcategories.  First, there's the option to view by thumbnail or detailed view.  From there, you can choose what kind of sex is being had.  Yeah, it's all young, smooth boy-types, but do you want anal?  Blowjob?  What's your pleasure here?  Finally once you've chose the style of sex you want, you can sorry by most recent, most popular, most rated, etc.  All of this is a neat function that really helps you find what you're looking for.

Content

Downloading options for videos are lacking, yet surprising in ways.  There's the traditional Quicktime and Mobile options that you'll find at any paysite, both of which can come in hi and lo def.  And of course, there's the ever-present streaming option.  But within streaming, members can actually jump direct to a scene within a video, which is perhaps the best use of streaming I've seen.  At the bottom of each page are thumbnail views to scenes within the video.  Click on it and you go right to what you want to see.  Awesome, because I usually hate the first fifteen minutes of videos because it's so boring.  If photos are more your thing, there are 22 photo galleries with an average of about 20-25 pictures each.  You'll have to settle for looking at these one by one, though.

Guys and Sex

Okay.  So y'all know how I generally feel about these skinny little twits.  In my experience, they're too concerned with how they look to the camera than getting into the sex.  Not so the case here.  While there are a few clunkers, these smooth boys fuck exquisitely.  They're in it for the sex, not just for the sake of porn.  There was one video I watched, a gangbang (which…where's the couples there?) that was just off the hook.  It's a shame that the site hasn't been updated in three years, because the network really had their fingers on the pulse with this one.  The one critique I have is, if it's bareback, why aren't there any internal cumshots or no re-entry after cumming?  That's one of the biggest, hottest parts of bareback, yes?  The photo content is decent, something I don't usually say.  I'll still stick to the video content.

Bonus value for the site is also pretty ballin'.  Like I mentioned, the site belongs to the Male Unit Network, so access to the site gets you access to all the sites that also belong to Male Unit, which includes He's So Big, Club Hunter Wylde, Club Sean Corwin and others.  I've checked out a few of these sites before and visited others now, and most of them are pretty hot.  Additionally, there's a model page ("Gaystars") that lists all of the models for all of the websites at Male Unit.  These can be searched by name, by best rated, by most popular, by best body aspect (!) and best sexual performance (!!!).  As far as model pages and searches therein go, Male Unit takes the cake.

Bottom Line

BarelyTwink.com is one of the schoolboy-type sites that really works for me, and since it's not a type I really like that probably means it's pretty good.  Let's hope Male Unit starts updating the site again, because I'd love to see more.
