First Impression

Bareback websites are fickle creatures.  You'd think that just having a website filled with bareback videos would make it hot, an instant hit, but that's just not true.  Bareback alone does not a hot video make.  You need models who are into it, who aren't just barebacking for the hell of it.  You need a site design that really sells the idea, you need...you need more than just bareback.  You need that certain je ne c'est quois.  HDK Raw has that in spades.  The guest homepage shows some pretty generic looking guys, as well as a disclaimer about making sure that you practice safe sex.  It's little things like this that renews my faith in humanity.  Well, that and that hitchhiker who put out when I picked him up.  Anyway.  

Navigation

The site design is pretty decent, dark charcoal and slate grays with white and golden orange accents.  Reading about it, it doesn't seem like it works, but when you look at it, you're like, "Well..well yes."  I think it's because there's a certain seedy dungeon quality to the colors, which lends itself to the way HDK Raw presents bareback sex:  it's taboo and dangerous, it's a guilty pleasure, something that needs to be hidden and talked about in no explicit terms.  The site navigation, however, leaves a little to be desired.  Like other websites in the HDK Central network, the navigation is muddled.  There's so much going on at the home page that it's a little off-putting: do I check out the newest photo updates or the newest video updates?  Maybe I'll read the list of network updates?  Oh, look at the list of top rated videos and photos!  Which ones are most viewed?  Oh look, I can check out those other barebacking sites.  I wonder what's coming soon?  Not you, because you're too frazzled to focus on finding the porn.

Content

The 600+ videos can be streamed using Flash or WMV, or they can be downloaded for highband WMV or iPod compatible (ah, porn on the go, making men even creepier since whenever that software was invented).  The photos, of which there is a surprising amount of original content, can either be viewed online in slideshow style, or downloaded in bulk with a zip file. There are more than 800 photo sets to choose from.

When it comes to extras, HDK Raw does a good job as well.  Being a part of the HDK Central network, members get access to all the sites within that network, including HDK Men and the aforementioned HDK Fisting.  Additionally, there are video feeds for other websites such as Paul Morris, Jake Cruise and Boykakke.  Members also get access to live cams (though for private shows, you'll have to pay) and, hilariously, three free videos of Gay Asian Bareback.

Bottom Line

In the pantheon of gay bareback, HDKRaw.com has the potential to be in the upper echelon.  All that it really needs is to streamline, to simplify.  Once you cut through the treacle and dive dick first into a raw asshole (yet another phrase I bet my mother never though I'd get to use), the site basically rocks.  (Raw-ks?...ugh, I hate me.)
