Good news: not everyone is an asshole

Just a couple days after we hear that lesbian teen Constance McMillen was sent to a fake prom by her school administration while her straight peers partied at a secret location, and that Tennessee teen Cole Gosforth was sent home from school because of his “Lady Gay Gay” t-shirt, we finally get a little bit of good news. It appears that not every person in charge of high school students these days is a total dickhead after all.

Gay teen Jordan Nixon and his boyfriend Chase have been allowed to attend their prom together at Starmount High School in Booneville, NC  after Jordan’s mother Leesa stepped in. When hearing how Chase wouldn’t be allowed to bring his ‘friend’ Jordan to the prom, she took action and contacted the school’s principal about this violation of his rights.  With some swift action, the situation was remedied and these two guys will now be able to go to their prom together after all.

Hell yeah, Leesa! Kudos to a mom who stands up for her kid’s rights and kudos to Starmount High for seeing where they went wrong.  It’s the friggin prom, people. Every kid should be able to dress up in fancy clothes, dance and cry to Boyz II Men’s “It’s So Hard To Say Goodbye To Yesterday.”  Um, not that I did that.

These two guys should have an awesome night!
