Michael Lucas goes to Oxford, but Brent Corrigan won’t be going to Yale

Lucas Entertainment mastermind Michael Lucas will participate in an upcoming debate next month at Oxford University in England. Lucas will be debating in proposition of the motion, “This House Believes That The Gay Rights Movement Has Undermined Family Values.”

When asked why Lucas was chosen as a debater, debate organizer Alexander Lau said that Lucas was a good fit for the debate, given his strong opinions on “family values” in the context of open homosexuality. He also stated that, “his vociferous advocation of safe sex in the gay community epitomizes attempts by the gay rights movement to appear more closely aligned to traditional mores, and to move away from old stereotypes.”

Michael Lucas is no stranger to public debates. He’s lectured at a number of prestigious university settings before on topics such as safe sex, relationships and, natch, porn.  This is in the wake of Brent Corrigan‘s rescinded offer to speak at Yale University’s Pride Week festivities. Corrigan spoke out on his blog, “I don’t fit in on an Ivy League campus. I would likely leave an indelible impression that, try if they might, denizens of the school could never manage to wash away.”

Corrigan and Lucas have been on opposing ends (no pun intended) of a situation before. There was that whole GayVN awards maybe-life-threatening, maybe-arrest debacle. Don’t ask, we have no idea.  Yale claims they were overbooked, but perhaps they agree with Lucas, that the gay porn industry shouldn’t embrace a controversial star such as Corrigan.  Then again, maybe Michael Lucas is the Kanye West of porn. What do you think?
